Better daily living via automation

January 30th, 2012

My life over the past 5 years looks very little like previous years, no doubt. All for the better. With the addition of a solid job, two great kids and healthier daily routines. But, every year until the last 6 months, I felt like my family time and personal time for things like music and relaxation was being swallowed up before I even started my week. With this in mind, my research interests have changed to reading a lot about time management, personal finance and frugality.
There seems to be a common theme in the blogs and books on these topics, as well as my daily fitness and diet routines: establish a budget and work within that budget. Now, I have seen this concept taken WAY too far. But, as long as I don’t get too anal about things I have found a pretty comfortable system. I’ll do my best to share with you my set ups, but my disclaimer is that I landed on this balance after trial and error of my life. Yours will be different.
Over the next few posts I will discuss my daily systems for managing:

  • diet and excersize
  • personal finance
  • time management

These setups allow me to focus my thoughts on more important things that come up, while providing peace of mind that I am not dropping the ball on goals and responsibilities.
