A transplant living in Nashville, I am originally from Connecticut.
I have spent most of my childhood and all of my adult life as a student of music and computers. I find a direct connection between the thought process of music and web development, which is probably why you see so many people cross over between the two.
As far as my background in music goes, I have been playing drums for 20 years or so. I have been playing guitar for about 8 years. I love to write in many styles of music: jazz, rock, pop, electronic and ambient. My influences range from jazz greats like John Coltrane and Bill Evans, to pop/rock heavies like Sting, Seal and A Perfect Circle.
During my undergraduate degree (Hartt School, Univ. of Hartford Grad 1998) I studied classical music production under Scott Metcalfe and David Budries and Afro-American drumming under Sal Ranniello. We all walk in the footsteps of giants, and these guys are exactly that.
After graduating from Hartt, I opened Blue Parrot Studios in Monroe, CT. BPS recorded many of regional talents in the NYC, CT and MA area who have continued to cultivate their talents and success.
Around the time after 9-11, I saw my recording business decline and many of the gigs around Southern CT and NYC were drying up for working musicians. As a result, I branched into Web and Multimedia design. This proved to be a great move, turning a negative situation of my business decline into learning new skills.
This new web knowledge landed me a job doing web design and multimedia content work for Purdue Pharma, makers of the controversial drug Oxicontin. I stayed at Purdue for a short time, then went into teaching web design at a technical college in New Haven, CT. Since then, I moved to Nashville where I have continued to create through music and the internet.
I have played with dozens of professional music groups over the years and continue to freelance as a hired gun live and in the studio on drums and percussion for many of Nashville's artists.
